Study tour of The Netherlands – 2023

This year we will celebrate our fifth Healthcare Study Tour to the Netherlands. Over the years we have had over thirty people joining us on these inspirational tours. This year’s tour will take place between the 7th and the 12th of May 2023.

The previous study tours to the Netherlands were a great balance of learning, reflection and networking, being exposed to innovative models of care, focusing on caring for people living with dementia. This upcoming study tour will focus on the Green Care Farm Model and how this model is used in over 300 daycare and 24/7 care facilities in the Netherlands to support people living with dementia. You can download the 2023 brochure here (4.6mb). Please contact us and we’ll send you the application form.

The World Health Organisation predicts that the number of people aged 60 and over will reach two billion by 2050, while dementia cases will triple to 141 million. How can we manage this with our limited healthcare budgets, and without sacrificing the quality of care? Innovation is going to be critical.

Suitable for?

Chief executives, directors of nursing, clinical managers, quality improvement specialists, occupational therapists, Dementia care experts, nurse practitioners focusing on the elderly, healthcare auditors, healthcare policy makers, Ministry of Health officials and Members of Parliament responsible for seniors.

When and where?

The tour will start Sunday evening May 7th, 2023 with a group introduction and will finish on Friday (afternoon) May 12th. During the week we will stay in a comfortable hotel on the outskirts of the picturesque city of Delft .

Focus

This year’s focus is to introduce participants to innovative projects and models which provide excellent care to the people living with dementia. The aim is that this will stimulate participants to develop new ideas and strategies for change, complementing the needs for this vulnerable group of people.

Places and people we visit

The Netherlands is well known for its innovative approach when it comes to caring for the elderly and those living with dementia. During the tour we visit:

  • Several Green Care Farm facilities (daycare and 24/7 care)
  • A dementia research institute
  • Dementia specialists
  • A health insurance company to understand the funding model
