The Netherlands is justly famous for its innovative approach to elder care issues. We will visit aged care facilities, hospitals and other supportive organisations and encourage each other to think in new ways.

The World Health Organisation predicts that the number of people aged 60 and over will reach two billion by 2050, while dementia cases will triple to 141 million. How can we manage this with our limited budgets, and without sacrificing the quality of care? Innovation is going to be critical.

Care-Metric Ltd’s fourth Healthcare Study Tour to The Netherlands runs from April 19-24, 2019. Applications close when we have 15 participants.

Chief executives, directors of nursing, clinical managers, quality improvement specialists, dementia care experts, nurse practitioners focusing on the elderly, healthcare auditors, healthcare policy makers, Ministry of Health officials and members of parliament responsible for eldercare.

When and where?

The tour will start on Sunday evening April 19 2019 with a group introduction and will end on Friday (afternoon) April 24th. Focus

Our goal is to expose participants to innovative projects which provide excellent care to the elderly population (with and without dementia), whether they are in a hospital, an aged care facility or at home. We hope this will stimulate new ideas and strategies to inspire the elder care.

  • Several small scale aged care facilities
  • A quality improvement institute
  • A dementia village – De Hogeweyk
  • The Dutch Dementia Delta plan project
  • A Dementia day care facility
  • The Dementia Green Care farm “Buitengewoon”
